Stuhr Museum Historical Signage

Stuhr Museum is a world-class, nationally recognized educational and cultural institution, and an outdoor living history museum. The living history portion of the museum, Railroad Town, features original period structures and living historians reenacting the 1890s.

Railroad Town hosts a series of events each year, one of which being their Harvest Fair. For this event they commissioned a series of historically accurate banners to differentiate the various tents and booths at the festival.

Each banner was drafted in Photoshop, transferred to the canvas banners and hand painted using traditional signage painting techniques.

The inspiration featured at the bottom of the page is a portion of my standard research process and showcases the inspiration for the typography executed on the banners.
